Less than a week ago, I had a late night shopping spree on Jetpens. I had heard a lot through the blogosphere about fountain pens, and Lamy pens in particular. I decided to give one a try. I also got a few odds and ends office supplies, too.
I picked up some cute paper clips (dolphins or whales?) on our vacation in October. When I saw Jetpens had the same brand, I got some turtle/tortoise ones, some pig ones and some penguins. They just crack me up! I also decided to try some coloured 0.7 mm pencil lead.
In addition to the pen, I also got some Lamy ink cartridges (blue) and the other fountain pen thingie. And some Japanese Post-it notes that I like.
The pen has a fine nib and I am liking it so far. I might want to try a medium nib, and could probably talk myself into getting that purple pen I linked to in the previous post. Ah, it’s a slippery slope …
Anyway, five stars to Jetpens for their super quick delivery. My last order from them, I chose the cheapest shipping option. The order wasn’t that much (maybe $22) and after almost four weeks I was afraid it was lost. So this time, because I was ordering the almost $40 pen, I decided to spring for the more expensive (and wow – way quicker) shipping. Well worth it.
I’ve only written a bit in my Filo with the Lamy (had a busy work afternoon), but from what I’ve written, it has a nice feel and saturation to the ink on the paper. I did manage to get the pen in the elasticized/leather pen loop in my Cuban Zip personal, but it was a bit of a battle to get it out again. The zipper impedes the easy slide of the pen out of the loop.
I like it!

There’s nothing quite like getting a package of stationery in the post – even better if its a fountain pen! I have some multicoloured ink cartrisges that I tend to use in my pens which I love!
Nice collection of goodies. The Lamy’s are really nice. You might like the Levenger True Writers as well. Enjoy!
those are the 2 i use the most!
Your first experience with Jet Pens was an aberration. I think almost every order I’ve placed with them has shipped no later than two days after my order, and the vast majority shipped the very next day. And I’ve never upgraded the shipping.
Oh, this wasn’t my first order with Jetpens; my credit card and they are -very- well acquainted!
However, I’m in Canada and things just take longer to get here what with Customs and all. I think that order was the one that took the longest. Usually they’re a couple of weeks. This one, however, was wonderfully quick!
I want to order something but unfortunately must wait. Not enough money. Sigh. Wolfy
Not to induce buyers remorse or anything, but from what I heard, the Safari’s tend to be more durable than the Al-Star’s. And they have another benefit. Cost. That doesn’t stop me from wanting the new Limited Edition red Al-Star when I have a Safari already.
You’re a bad influence – I’m now waiting for my own jet pen order….

Just buy it, I’ve seen that purple Lamy in real life–it’s FAB! You know this fountain pen thing is as slippery a slope as Filofax, right? ;o)
Oh, sure. -Now- you tell me. I ordered a silver blue one from Pens & Leather …
